5 Elopement Destinations for 2021

Micro weddings, minimonies, call them what you want, 2020 showed us couples embracing elopements like never before! An elopement does not simply mean tiny weddings with no guests held at a a courthouse or somewhere in your backyard. It’s a celebration of your love surrounded by those closest to you and held anywhere your heart desires.

Choosing to elope gives you the ability to go anywhere, especially if you are skipping the big guest list and travelling with a small group of family or friends. So many gorgeous venues and outdoor locations provide what seems like a endless list of elopement destinations, but somehow we’ve managed to narrow it down to five and you won’t be able to get enough of them (don’t worry, we won’t tell if you elope twice).

Domino Park, Brooklyn, New York

An outdoor elopement at Domino Park means waterfront views mixed with industrial, city vibes, truly the best of both worlds for couples looking to compromise between a beach or city wedding.

Domino Park allows events for guest lists of 20 or less, making it the ideal place to elope. If an intimate ceremony but a large reception is more your style, enjoy a ceremony in the park and then head to any of Brooklyn’s amazing restaurants or take a quick ride over the Williamsburg Bridge and continue the party in Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

Cedar Lakes Estate, Port Jervis, New York

If breathtaking scenes, fresh air and a choice of indoor or outdoor venues sounds like everything you’re dreaming of then head to Cedar Lakes Estate for your elopement. Located in Port Jervis, New York the estate is a wonderful elopement location for couples looking to escape the city, sitting just an hour and a half outside of bustling NYC. Exchange vows among the tall trees, take a romantic walk along the lake and enjoy a delicious meal around the firepit seated right next to the bar.

Acadia National Park, Maine

A national park is the perfect elopement location for nature lovers. Head to Maine to tie the knot at Acadia. Exchange vows on oceanside cliffs or among the forest. Better yet, intimate ceremonies with 10 people or less can skip the permit and associated $50 fee. Visit the National Park Service website for additional guidelines regarding weddings in the park.

Inn at Perry Cabin, Maryland

Turn your elopement celebration into a weekend of fun and relaxation at the Inn at Perry Cabin, located on the Maryland shore. With so many amenities you can invite your guests to hit the spa with you, play tennis or a round of golf, bike through town, share delicious meals and even set sail (or send them home right after the wedding and kick your honeymoon off all to yourself).

Lake Champlain, Vermont

Sensing a theme with all these beautiful locations? Gorgeous scenery is a must when deciding between possible elopement destinations. If getting married on the lake is on your wish list, a Vermont elopement at Lake Champlain is the answer. The scenery is perfect for any season and numerous venues surround the lake allowing couples to select a space that meets their wedding needs.

With so many elopement destinations to choose from, what are you looking for when deciding the perfect place to say, “I do?”
